SCT Foundation was established in 1984 in honor of Salvador C. Tan, in the spirit of sharing the blessings of his prosperity with the community that accepted and raised him and his family.
After arriving in the Philippines, SC Tan settled in Northern Samar, from then on he called Catarman his home. This is why SCTAN foundation's projects are concentrated in Samar. Samar is the third largest island in the Philippines and faces the Pacific Ocean making it amongst the most vulnerable regions to typhoons. These repeated natural disasters combined with a poor geographical location not conducive to development make North Samar one of the ten poorest provinces in the country.
